Hi, I’m Willow and I’m both BAME and LGBTQ+ Officer – and acting Youth Officer.

LGBTQ+ hatred has been on a sharp rise in recent years. Furthermore, as we can see in the media, racist rhetoric is once more becoming normalised. This is why it is paramount to represent and empower these communities.

I’m dedicated to making our CLP fair, inclusive and welcoming to all – which is why I undertook these roles. My two main objectives (apart from securing a general election win!) are to give voice to BAME and LGBTQ+ on the Executive Committee and in the wider CLP and to build supportive networks. An intersectional approach is needed now more than ever – which is why I’m glad to have the opportunity to work alongside Helen, Mid Bucks’ Women’s Officer.

In order to give each role the time and attention it deserves, we’re looking for a passionate member to take over as Youth Officer. If you’re 26 years old or younger and interested in this role, please email me.

Hello, I’m Helen Jones. I’m pleased to represent the voice of our women members on the CLP Executive Committee.

While there have been enormous advances in the last 100 years, there still isn’t a country in the world where women are genuinely equal with men. My aim is to ensure that Labour women in Mid Bucks are fully involved in the work of our CLP and our campaigning reaches out and engages with women voters.

My short-term goal is to set up regular get-togethers for women members to meet and share views and concerns (and coffee and cake!) in a friendly environment. So far, these events have been on weekdays in the southern half of the constituency but I plan to vary days, times and venues to enable as many women as possible to attend. Full details of all these get-togethers will be on Labour Hub Events. Two to four weeks before each meet-up, myself or a colleague will try to contact members living in the area to issue personal invitations.

In the longer term, I plan to reach out to women in the wider community through women’s organisations, to explore local issues and identify ways in which we can work together to improve the day-to-day lives of women in Mid Bucks.

Please feel free to contact me by email to share your thoughts and ideas. I look forward to meeting you soon.
